kaos radio and machine gun hand - john

I am stuck in the middle of a marathon on E! on the 101 best Hollywood Secrets so I am inclined to share one of Austin’s.  Austin may or may not have a pirate radio station.  It might or might not be called KAOS and it might or might not be available to listen to on FM at 95.9 or online here. Anyway, this hypothetical station which if existed would indeed be sticking it to the FCC man much like the PartyEnds favorite flick Pump Up The Volume is full of good surprises.  The diversity in programming is spectacular.  You have gutter punk one show and bizarre space new wave rock the next.  We salute you KAOS radio.

There was a benefit for the station at Snake Eyes Vinyl (see above mural photo!)  on September 3rd 2006.  It was big fun.  The Laughing played their second show at this benefit… hard to believe considering how ‘buzz worthy’ they are only a short time later…  more on that all over this site later…

Another band that played the benefit deserves a nod: Machine Gun Hand from Duncanville TX.  Straight up Rock and Roll complete with guitar solos behind the head.  Anytime someone goes out of their way to play the strings with their tongues they will get my respect.  The band playing live is much better than their current tracks that are up online because of the crazy energy.  Keep an eye out for these guys- they are playing the Galaxy Club in Dallas on November 18th.

This is my salute to you Machine Gun Hand.  I salute your awesome rock band name.  I salute your bitchin’ Darkness (RIP) cover.  Most of all I salute your devotion to pirate radio.  Not that Austin would have such an institution or anything.
