temple of the dog, m.d. - luther (dallas,tx)

Hey, I just thought I would let the Dallas readers know that Dr. Dog is playing tonight at the Gypsy Tea Room with one of our favorite Buckley-esques What Made Milwaukee Famous, and this could be your last opportunity to go to the Gypsy and hear some descent music before the Man tears it down (well, shuts it down, I doubt they are tearing it down, but this is a lot more dramatic). These Phili boyeez are making quite a splash with their latest full length We All Belong, after having toured the wide world with the likes of Architecture in Helsinki and Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah. Plus, I hear the next tour is in support of the Raconteurs, so maybe just see them when the tickets aren't $40 a pop. Check this out, it's good.

P.S. I just saw that on the 17th at the Gypsy will be Public Enemy! What the fuuuuck, that's pretty cool. Go to that too, please.

Well, if I could get past the aweful name, the music is good; but that name!

How on earth is WMMF 'Buckley-esque'? Is this some Buckley I don't know about, perhaps the dog in the Royal Tennebaums?

Once you get past the name the band is pretty good!

Well, 2:29, actually, if you really listen to the vocal stylings of Michael Kingcade, and you have listened a fair amount to Jeff Buckley, the similarities/derivity becomes shockingly obvious. Not that this is a bad thing, or anything to critisize, I think it's great.
