spirit of the blitzen - luther (dallas,tx)

God, I used to listen to so much folk music, and then sooo much alt-country / country rock, it's a wonder I don't still wear brown work boots, and snap shirts, touting my Uncle Tupelo collection around in an old pickup (as much as I do like UT and my few snap button shirts). No matter how metropolitan I fool myself into thinking I am, I just can't get away from lovin' that twang, which is why I like this new buzzy group out of Portland, Blitzen Trapper. Like a less ironic, grown up Old Crow Medicine Show, they are showing the hipsters that no matter how many O' Brother Where Art Thous come along, waxing and waining Americana popularity, country and folk will always be cool. Already on their third album, these are guys to watch.

MP3: Blitzen Trapper - Wild Mountain Nation

Look for Wild Mountain Nation, their upcoming album, sometime in early June.
