sunday scenes - luther (dallas,tx)
Good morning late-to-risers, it's Sunday and it's time to shuffle off those mixers and malts, settle down to a nice cup of coffee and your laptop, and look at, listen to, and read a bunch of inane, useless videos, music, and words from Party Ends and, I'm sure, a slew of other blogs and web-sites. We are here to help you in that endeavor.
As has been recently developed, I've started utilizing Sundays for the items that might not justify a full weekday post, weather it's not as current, or not as relevant as our usual quality offerings, I still think it merits some attention. So here is the weird and the cool and whatever else I had lying around:
Over SXSW 2007 we had the opportunity to see some great comics at the Mess With Texas event down ol' Red River way, as well as some great music, and while we were there we got some killer swag for this web site that is sweeping college dorm rooms and office cubicles alike by the name of Super Deluxe (I swear, the pin is on my satchel!). Seemingly an internet outlet for comedy so brilliant that the common public is too stupid to understand it in the form of actual network TV, the medium also allows the creators to get as dirty and fowl-mouthed as they see fit, breaking down the hindrance that this can have on some people's comedy. Now, while pretty much everything I've watched on here is fuckin' golden, I decided my compromise for this post is to throw up this incredible video of a character that will no doubt be classic called Baby Cakes. This is inexplicable. Watch all of it! Everything on the site!

And then there's this show, which is insane. So offensive!.. and awesome. You might recognize the young guy as Maybe's assistant at the movie studio on Arrested Development, and both Derek and Simon were in For Your Consideration. Anyway, watch this and cringe.

This group that I'd never really had a chance to listen to by the name of Los Campesinos recently released a new single on Wichita Records (home of great albums by the likes of everyone from the Cribs to Peter, Bjorn, and John) entitled We Throw Parties, You Throw Knives. The song is clever, original, and infectiously catchy, with a lo-fi sense of fun and nigh juvenile sing-song jubilence, leaning toward latter Ben Lee but a bit less thirty-something-centric. Check it out.

And for good measure, the video for We Throw Parties is pretty fly too:
